Matt has an academic background in film, visual media, cultural studies and events management – specialising in Experiential Marketing. After dabbling in freelance writing he moved into arts PR. Matt worked in Liverpool with a wide range of well-established cultural organisations, festivals and most of the city’s theatres, developing their marketing and press campaigns and expanding his network within the city’s arts and culture sector. Matt’s freelance career saw him work on several charity events and a handful of pro-bono cases.
At XTRAX’s he works across all of XTRAX’s ambitious, UK and international projects including Without Walls, Platform 4: UK, and national and international showcases. Matt plans, coordinates, and manages XTRAX’s marketing and communication strategies and the creation of all of our media and content including film, print, E-marketing materials and online development efforts. Matt also plays a key role in our fundraising and advocacy campaigns – making sure people know about the brilliant work being done in the outdoor arts sector.
Born in rural Cheshire, Matt is a keen storyteller, something he has never shied away from – at 14, the late Sir Terry Pratchett (his favourite author) hand-picked him as the winner of a creative writing competition.
