An act of wonder unfolds in the heart of the neighbourhoods where people live. As if from another time, a mysterious horse-and-carriage travels the streets, bearing the sign of its origin and destination: 7 Alleys. A team of runners and riders accompany the carriage, delivering messages-in-bottles to residents’ doorsteps as beautiful harmonies emanate from the on-board violinist. Each bottle contains an antique scroll with an invitation summoning locals to join the search for the magical 7th Alley which will open up at midnight on the appointed date. Thousands of people descend on the secret location, full of anticipation…
Follow this coming-of-age story through the legendary alleys in search of the magic portal of the 7th Alley. Telling local folklore, myths and legends through large-scale dramatic action with soaring music, poetry, aerial structures, fire & pyrotechnics, 7 Alleys is a sensory rite of passage for audiences of all ages, who are challenged to journey with the actors and step into the unknown.
7 Alleys was specially commissioned by Hull 2017 UK City of Culture as the inaugural act of Wonder for the city-wide Land of Green Ginger project.
