All That is Solid Melts into Air

Category: Show Related artist: Tangled Feet

A city’s story is an epic and perpetual tale of regeneration and change. Industries have changed, bombs have fallen, tower blocks have soared and markets plummeted. The past is wiped away and new futures promised. How does a city survive as all that is solid melts into air? What does it take to let go of the past when the future is still out of reach?

Tangled Feet tell the exhilarating and moving human story of urban regeneration in a gravity- defying piece of highly physical storytelling.

Commissioned by Greenwich and Docklands International Festival 2011, All That Is Solid Melts Into Air is a large-scale outdoor spectacle on a scaffold stage that blends aerial and physical theatre. The piece explores the social and human process of regeneration – particularly the point in time when a place and a community is suspended in a moment of change, between the old but dying traditions and an uncertain future.
The piece is designed to be situated in an urban square or industrial setting, in a place where scaffolding might normally be found. It is 45 minutes long and created for an audience of 500-1000
