Bears from Pyrénées

The show draws on Bear’s Party celebrated in the month of February in various areas of the Pyrenees, to correspond with the end of Winter and the next arrival of spring, the Bear’s Party symbolize the out of hibernation and the arrival of the new season. The importance and the fear generated bears in agricultural societies mountain is reflected in festivals such as those currently held in Prats de Motlló, Sant Llorens de Cerdans o La Mata, the serve at Tutatis for her inspiration of a new show of street theater.
Our show, begins with the awakening after the winter (reborn after death) and bear is evil for the Pyrenean past societies. In Tutatis, as in most of these parties, we focus especially on the prosecution bears (giant puppets) make everyone who gets ahead.
Our vision of the traditional celebration aims, as always, is stylized, personal and contemporary. The show combines giant puppets handler’s actors with a cart and a percussionist who works the soundtrack in keeping with the traditional mountain melodies (chalapartas, percussion, gralla).
