BELONGING(s) is a site-responsive promenade performance by Tilted Productions. The show toured nationally and internationally from 2015 – 2017.
BELONGING(s) combines contemporary dance, physical theatre and an unusual use of objects. Tilted’s Artistic Director and choreographer, Maresa von Stockert created the piece in collaboration with an international and intergenerational cast of 9 performers ranging in age from under 25 to over 60.
Meandering between in-and outdoor spaces, the promenade piece provokes thoughts on the notion of belonging, migration and the fleeting nature of what surrounds us. It invites the viewer to see the familiar in new ways, with local spaces being turned into illusionary worlds.
As audiences walk between the main scenes they will come across pop up performance vignettes involving members of the local community.
BELONGING(s) is in constant metamorphosis in response to its locations – the piece is ‘moulded to’ and integrates the architecture and landscape of each place it tours to.
BELONGING(s) has since evolved into Tilted’s newest work for the stage Constructions of Thin Air. http://tilted.org.uk/projects/constructions-of-thin-air/
