C.a.p.e. Anima, an immersive experience created by Brussels art collective CREW, is a walk right into the heart of Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony, performed by Anima Eterna Brugge at Concertgebouw Brugge.
To experience C.a.p.e. Anima, each participant is fit up with omni-directional equipment: a tracker, a headset, a backpack with a computer and video goggles. The images projected in the goggles – produced by 360° cameras – put the immersant in the middle of the video footage, allowing for an actual walk inside the filmed space! This combination of looking, listening and moving produces an illusion that is as titillating as it is uncanny…
C.a.p.e. Anima invites the visitor to an almost tangible, highly personal musical experience, in which all senses are stimulated and challenged. Never before has the Pastoral been ‘injected’ throughout body and mind like this before. The Concertgebouw becomes a soundscape, and the musical performance a poetic space offering a completely new perspective on Beethoven’s masterpiece.
