Culinary Duel

Based upon the familiar format of TV cookery shows, ‘Culinary Duel’ is a 30 minute outdoor dance theatre performance for two performers and one characterful robotic cooker as a set, designed to particularly appeal to children and family audiences. Recreating the family TV experience and animating its absurdity with physical humour, athletic dance, acrobatics and innovative audience participation, members of the public are encouraged to stir and sprinkle ingredients, engage in egg cracking competitions, learn a simple dance with cooking gestures and help the chefs catch their disobedient kitchen appliance.
Culinary Duel will also allow us to explore audience participation with and through animatronics. Working with designer Mike Pattison, we will develop a remotely controlled, characterful robotic cooker which travels amongst the audience. The show will extend the parameters of our audience engagement by developing interactive aspects.
