HOME Ensemble

Currently in last stage of development

HOME Ensemble is an interdisciplinary performance show crossing dance, aerial performance, film and sound; it explores personal and universal aspects of home, integrating experiences of collaborating artists and members of the public in a combination of exhibition and live performance

The show comes under umbrella project The HOME Project (the–home–project.tumblr.com), which Hayley initiated in 2014. This brings artists and members of the public together to collaborate, explore and find resting places.

The show uses photography, film, interviews, sound, writing and performance to let the audience into the experiences of home of the 4 artists and 6 contributing members of the local community, who work closely with the artists to develop their own story. Each of dance, aerial work, film and sound weave together in an exploitation of what it means to be at home in community.

The project brings together artists Al Simmons – photographer and film artist, Daisy Black – aerialist, Jack Hurst – musician and composer and Hayley Matthews – contemporary dancer/dance maker

The performance work is performed and devised by Hayley and Daisy with music specially composed by Jack Hurst. It explores personal, intimates movements that are our own and how we can relate to others in community.

In 2017 we are bidding for a last phase of development for HOME Ensemble at a secret location in Norfolk. And after this we hope to tour the show, embedding it into a number of cities in the UK and working with local community members in each city.

We are hugely grateful to Dove Street Studios who supported development and preview in 2016 and to Norwich Arts Center, Norfolk and Norwich Festival and Norfolk County Council who have supported its development, and Dance East for supporting the 2017 bid. We are looking for other UK partners to tour.
