Jabberwocky! is an animated and illuminated puppet beast mounted on a tricycle chassis, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s famous nonsense poem Jabberwocky.
With a fully animated head with blinking eyes and a snapping mouth, head and neck mounted on a counterweighted boom, our Jabberwock can loom down and whiffle at child’s eye level as well as rise to a full burbling height of 3m.
The Jabberwock also has animated claws and wings that fold outwards from the body. It is illuminated with controllable LED lighting and is designed to work both at night-time and during the day. Operated by 2 puppeteers, the Jabberwock can work as a walkabout character for streets and festivals whilst also making an impressive addition to parades and processions.
Jabberwock travels in a SWB semi-high-roof Transit van & takes 1-2 hours to rig & de-rig, depending on parking & access. Vehicle access is necessary for rig & de-rig. It can do 3 x 45minute walkabouts a day. We are flexible & willing to negotiate appearances appropriate for each festival/event. Contact us for more info.
