An immersive performance for parks, woodlands and forests.
A journey that invites to sense, being with and becoming landscape. Movement and branching pathways emerge from and return to the land, as we are invited to witness and participate in a journey of connectivity with the environment and each other. Weaving processes from choreography, Land Art and ecology, Meanders explores our relationship to landscape, trees, natural forms and materials, with a particular interest in ‘branching forms’ which are an earthly evolutionary path of growth and interconnection that humans share with the Earth and other organisms.
Meanders is is part of dance artist Vanessa Grasse’s The Land We Are project series, which offers workshops, remote scores, choreographic work and collaborations with environmental experts, investigating ways to offer embodied experiences of ecology and relationality that can re-invigorate our connection with the more-than-human world.
Meanders is currently in creation (2021), via Arts Council England funding and Dance Partner Project at Yorkshire Dance.
