“The Secret Life of Mia” uses promenade, site-specific theatre, silent disco technology and movement to take the audience on an immersive and intimate journey into the secret world of women starving for beauty and raise awareness about eating disorders. The audience is invited to put on headphones and follow a woman suffering from bulimia through the streets as she goes about her daily routine, stopping in various locations all the way to her home.
The show was developed in 2013 in Liverpool as part of the first \’On the Verge\’ festival produced by Hope Street Ltd. Funded by The Arts Council England and with the support of Hope St Ltd., St. Helens Council, Heart of Glass and Merseyside Youth Association, the show was revived in October 2016 in Liverpool before being successfully adapted to a new environment in St. Helens.
