Founded by Dan Fox in 2008. Sound Intervention is an artist-led company offering a broad range of skills and experience. Utilising cutting-edge digital technology and age-old traditional techniques, every project is unique with ideas at the heart of the work.
From peat bogs to galleries, digital to hand-made, street music to aeolian harps, microphones to welders, Boom-Bikes to Singing Plants.
We enjoy seeing projects through from conceptual ideas to finished piece.
We often work to commission plus we have several installations, unusual sound systems and location sound services available for hire.
Most recently we created two pieces for National Trust’s LUX exhibition at Cragside House, Rothbury.
We are the creators of the Boom-Bike; a highly mobile battery powered sound system, now with Boom-Bike II we are offering a completely mobile pop-up bandstand complete with 2 bikes and 1.8 kilowatts of crystal clear sound, digital fx, loopers, radio microphones and a wireless link between two bikes. We can curate a programme of bands, musicians, DJs and mobile music workshops. Perfect for festivals, carnivals and events.
Dan composes music for installations such as Christmas at Kew which last year had 122,000 visitors. He plays percussion and trombone with Tongues of Fire, The Balkanics and Boom-Bike Bourree.
Howling Wire is a 12 metre high aeolian harp, part of Oxford Contemporary Musics Audible Forces. It is available as a self-contained off-grid installation.
We offer sound walks for groups of up to 20 people – Silent Disco meets field recording.
We enjoy collaborating!
