LOD music theatre is a Ghent production house for opera and music theatre. For over twenty years now, it has guaranteed the creation of pioneering artistic work. LOD works with a range of artists (composers Kris Defoort, Dick van der Harst, Jan Kuijken, Dominique Pauwels, Daan Janssens and Thomas Smetryns, director Inne Goris, actor/writer/director Josse De Pauw, visual artist/theatre maker Patrick Corillon, director Fabrice Murgia and philosopher/writer Pieter De Buysser). Together they work on different kinds of productions in which a wide array of artistic genres meet.
The resident artists of LOD are known for their contemporary approach of music theatre. Their work is hybrid and hard to label, but it is always the result of profound artistic investigation. With projects such as The Woman Who Walked into Doors, Deep in the Woods, The Soul of the Ant, House of the Sleeping Beauties, Ghost Road, An Old Monk, and more recently The House Taken Over and MCBTH, LOD has met with great enthusiasm in Belgium and abroad.
LOD pays special attention to a collaboration with Wallonian artists, for instance in De Duivel Beduveld (The Devil Bedeviled), The Blind (with Patrick Corillon), Middle East (with Philippe Blasband), Ghost Road (with Fabrice Murgia) and The incredible changes of Mr. Afzal (with Patrick Corillon).
