MCDC was founded by Artistic Director and Choreographer Michaela Cisarikova in 2014 in London. In 2020 MCDC relocated to Folkestone and continued to develop its artistic style and a new approach of creating responsive and organic work. MCDC has a passion for bringing dance into unusual settings for people to enjoy, feel inspired and connect with.
MCDC’s experimental style fuses elements of contemporary dance, physical theatre and Michaela’s hip-hop influence of fast & controlled movement. She uses a collaborative approach and different art forms to bring new visuals and an aesthetic essence to the work.
Michaela believes that dance is a connection to the human soul. Her mission is to challenge creativity; explore and bring contemporary dance and hip-hop essence to people & unconventional spaces and to build relationships and memorable experiences through dance.
Michaela has produced indoor & outdoor works across the UK, Europe, Chicago and Kenya including MCDC’s ‘aLove Story’ – the first ever site-specific work at Breakin’ Convention, Sadler’s Wells in 2017. Performances include: East London Dance 2015, Emerge Festival 2017, Abundance International Dance Festival 2019, Resolutions 2016 & 2019, Educational Outreach Tour in Slovakia 2019, The Folkestone Triennial 2021, Applause Rural Touring’s summer programme 2022, The Hayward Gallery and many more.
MCDC is passionate about embracing individuality, supporting creativity and experimenting within all techniques, styles & projects.
