UK-Korea Programme Producer
Between October and December 2021 XTRAX was delighted to work with Sooyeon Choo on a 3-month remote work placement, supported by KOFICE (the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange) and the NEXT Online Fellowship programme. Through the capacity-building NEXT programme, KOFICE works in partnership with arts and cultural institutions and Korean Cultural Centres around the world to provide work placements for professionals to strengthen skills in international cultural exchange.
Sooyeon Choo is a Korean-based Creative Producer & Programmer working with street arts & circus festivals and artists in the fields of performance producing, international exchange, education, and research. Working closely with the XTRAX project team as UK-Korea Programme Producer, Sooyeon supported the design and delivery of an online exchange programme between artists and producers in the two countries, managing Korean relations. Through this experience Sooyeon also had the opportunity to develop her professional networks and understanding of the UK sector.
This activity was delivered as part of the Platform4:UK project. Contact the XTRAX team to find out more about our international work and future opportunities to get involved.
About Korea Connections
Korea Connections was a series of online conversations for UK and Korean outdoor artists and producers to develop their understanding of each other’s contexts, including opportunities for seeing and presenting outdoor work in both countries.
Our programme was designed for outdoor artists and producers ready for international touring looking to build the skills and knowledge required for establishing long-lasting international relationships, with a particular focus on the UK and Korea.
Facilitated by XTRAX, the sessions also invited leading representatives in both the UK and Korea outdoor sectors to share their experiences, as well as providing an opportunity for participants to connect with peers and ask questions.
