XTRAX hosted a Circostrada Network meeting in London attended by 50 international delegates in the context of the XTRAX/GDIF 2016 showcase.
XTRAX delivered a successful series of events to complement the conference activities:
- During the Circostrada conference, XTRAX created opportunities for promoters to see work by UK artists. On 22nd June Circostrada members were invited to attend a UK Street Arts Garden Party in the garden of The Albany, Deptford’s performing arts venue and artists’ creation space. Hosted by XTRAX and the Independent Street Arts Network (ISAN), the Garden Party was an opportunity to see work by six UK companies including Mimbre, Artizani, Akademi, Corey Baker Dance, Talking Birds and Ray Lee.
- On 23rd June, Circostrada members attended a session organised by XTRAX, where three leading experts representing current interests in the UK street arts scene, were invited to share their experience and knowledge; audience development expert Anne Torreggiani from The Audience Agency, environmental champion Alison Tickell from Julie’s Bicycle, and Disability Activist and Theatre Director Jenny Sealey from Graeae Theatre Company.
- On 24th June, Circostrada members were invited to England’s most International High Tea event, where they were able to enjoy one of Britain’s most popular food traditions, whilst meeting other invited UK and international professionals. Following this XTRAX organised for members to attend a performance of Depart by Circa in association with London’s National Centre for Circus Arts, performed in one of London’s ‘Magnificent Seven’ cemeteries, Tower Hamlet’s Victorian Cemetery Park.
