SO Festival 2020:
21 August | Mablethorpe
22 August | Skegness
23 August | Skegness
SO Festival is a free, cultural arts festival on the East Coast of Lincolnshire, renowned for uniting the best local and international talent to provide a truly enriching experience for locals, visitors and holidaymakers.
Organised annually by Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure & Culture, this year’s festival programme featured a unique blend of art forms, including inventive puppetry, modern dance, interactive slapstick, water clowning, musical theatre, daring acrobatics and street theatre, as well as art exhibitions, family-friendly activities and expert-led workshops, all aimed at engaging the community and making arts accessible to all.
Jens Frimann Hansen, our Artistic Director from Denmark, brings a Nordic and continental direction that provides a fantastic display of outdoor art and entertainment to prompt both community engagement and thought. We are delighted to be working with Europe’s leading festival director, and partner with Helsingør Teater in Denmark and PASSAGE Festival in Denmark and Sweden.
Since 2009, the festival has received significant investment from East Lindsey District Council and support from Arts Council England and we are proud to be a National Portfolio Organisation for the second time. SO Festival is a partner of Without Walls Touring Network Partnership, a project that tours high-quality outdoor shows for free to towns and cities across England without regular arts activity.
The programme for SO Festival 2020 is yet to be announced, but with next year’s festival set to raise the bar, be sure to join us on 21 August in Mablethorpe and 22 – 23 August in Skegness!
