Great Yarmouth based but collaborating internationally, SeaChange Arts is an independent arts development charity dedicated to delivering outstanding opportunities for artists and communities through supporting hosting and delivering circus and street arts projects and events. Our focus on Circus and Street Arts grows naturally from this seaside town’s rich performance heritage.
SeaChange Arts runs the Drill House, the UK’s only dedicated training and creation centre for international circus and street arts and produces The Out There International Festival of Circus and Street Arts, one of the UK’s leading festivals of street arts and circus, attracting audiences in excess of 60,000 people each year. Out There Festival is now in its 13th year.
SeaChange Arts has a 21 year track record of successfully producing high quality, large scale funded projects working through multiple partnerships, with diverse artistic companies and communities and delivering on a variety of agendas including: health; education; regeneration; place making; participation; arts; culture and heritage.
Joe Mackintosh has been the director of SeaChange Arts, for 13 years. Joe took over the organisation at a time of organisational crisis and has developed a highly skilled team, clear mission and strong track record for working across partnerships at a national and international level, presenting work of exceptional quality and significance while remaining true to the purpose of local transformation.
Now an NPO, SeaChange is recognised as one of the UK’s most dynamic organisations in the fields of Outdoor Arts, Contemporary Circus and European Collaboration. The organisation functions as a gateway to/from Europe and supports creation through its centre at the Drill House, which underwent a £1.5m capital transformation in 2016 and is currently undergoing a second phase of works to improve the accessibility of existing facilities and develop the functionality of ancillary buildings, ensuring it is fully fit for purpose center.
SeaChange has led numerous large scale international partnerships, developed the Out There International Festival of Street Arts and Circus into one of the largest events of its kind in the UK and has produced many other events including Showzam Festival Blackpool, Deloitte Ignite Festival ROH Covent Garden, and Peterborough Arts Festival for partners.
