A Street Theater Festival Born Between the Everyday and the Extraordinary Imagine a play with actors lying on the grass in a park performing before a backdrop of spring green.
A parade of dancers in a shopping street with audiences invited to join.
As the performance starts, the atmosphere changes completely.
Strange Seed Shizuoka, a street theatre festival materializing such visions, was launched in 2016.
As its title, Street Theatre Festival, denotes, it’s not an ordinary theatre festival— it is a festival that creates numerous questions of “What’s this? What’s that? What’s here?” in the city.
This question provided festival organisers, artists, and audiences alike with an opportunity to encounter and re-examine street theatre as a new genre of expression.
“ON STAGE SHIZUOKA”
Strange Seed Shizuoka will transform the entire city, realising a magnificent gathering of street theatre!
Festival Director: Worry KINOSHITA
Organized by the Committee of the Open-air Performing Arts Festival Shizuoka.
