The Day Trip is a site-specific, interactive solo performance featuring Granny Violet.
It uses clown, circus skills and comedy to provide an accessible, warm, entertaining performance that will also challenge many of the negative stereotypes surrounding Blackness, disability and ageing.
Granny Vi, lives in a retirement home, where they have lots and lots of time.
(She) is an older Caribbean lady with grey afro hair.
She wears half-moon glasses, which she likes but can’t see out of, and relies on the magnifying glass. She wears hearing aids, which she selectively turns off when she doesn’t want to hear what’s being said.
On the day trip, Granny will interact with the public, using circus skills to help her ‘Find The word’ be will be played with aerial silks, hoops, and whatever else is available.
