This summer we will be developing ideas for a new outdoor show for 2016.
It will be called The Last Illusion and is inspired by the true story of an elderly husband and wife acrobatic duo, who we met in Dorset many years ago. It is also partly autobiographical, and loosely based on our recent village hall touring show.
The Last Illusion – tells the story of a retired street performer and his wife who look back and remember their life on the road together before an accident forced them into retirement. Although now living with dementia and ill health, RenĂ© and Renaldo are determined to come out of retirement and prepare for one last farewell performance.
The show is set in a backyard shed, overflowing with the couple’s theatrical props and equipment. It will be a two-man show, with an original musical soundtrack and magic illusions, and aims to take the audience on a poignant journey to the past – and back again.
We are seeking commissioners who would like to work with us on this project. If you would like to book this show provisionally for summer 2016, this would help us with our Arts Council England funding application.
