Instant Dissidence is a Bradford-based company directed by Rita Marcalo, who has been the recipient of various awards in the UK and abroad (Jerwood, Corners, SEAS X, Interact, Creative Futures, CETL, Lisa Ullman, Erasmus). The work she makes with Instant Dissidence has been shown all over the UK and internationally. From dancing with strangers in public places, to exploring cooking and dancing as parallel processes, to inviting people to sit behind the wheel of a modified parked car, to creating augmented reality choreography for bus stops, through Instant Dissidence Rita invents ways of offering other people art experiences.
