La Gualtero is the artistic project of Barcelona-based choreographer and performer Raquel Gualtero, a graduate of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK – Theatre School).
Her work explores movement as a vital and transformative force through repetition, endurance and hypnotic physical states. Rooted in contemporary dance while drawing inspiration from ritual, folklore and collective practices, her creations invite audiences into immersive choreographic experiences where the body becomes a space for resonance, transformation and shared imagination.
As a performer, she has collaborated with internationally renowned companies and artists including Romeo Castellucci, Fabulous Beast Dance Theatre, Roberto Zappalà, Àngels Margarit, Àlex Rigola, Pere Faura and Agrupación Señor Serrano.
As a choreographer, her recent works include 360º, Complete Revolution, Panorama, Nuà and Persona (Injuve Award 2011). 360º premiered at FiraTàrrega in 2024 and continues to tour internationally, while Complete Revolution, its theatre counterpart, premiered at the Grec Festival Barcelona in 2025. Her work has been presented at festivals and institutions including GDIF – Dancing City (London), Europalia (Belgium), Kinani International Dance Platform (Mozambique), FIAV Casablanca (Morocco), Beirut Physical Lab (Lebanon), United Cowboys / Natlab (The Netherlands) and SIRF – Stockton International Riverside Festival (UK).
