Lauren is a Freelance Carnival and Outdoor Artist based in Manchester where she makes puppets, lanterns, costumes and headdresses. She grew up attending festivals such as ‘Streets Ahead’ where she was fascinated by the colours, lights and sounds of street theatre. Her journey into the world of carnival began when she went to a samba dance class in 2009 and she has been hooked ever since.
Lauren graduated with a degree in Design from Liverpool Hope University in 2012 and won awards for her large scale jewellery pieces at her degree show. She has since become deeply involved in carnival art forms and has produced costumes and large scale pieces for street parades and outdoor events. In addition she also designs and facilitates lantern and puppet-making workshops with schools and community groups in conjunction with organisations such as Global Grooves and Cabasa Carnival Arts.
Lauren is always on the lookout for people and organisations to collaborate and develop work with.
