Swizzleshaker have been touring their small-scale show, COCKTAILS FOR TWO on the street arts circuit in the UK and abroad for the past 5 years. The show was created as a street theatre show (30, minutes) and as a cabaret piece (10 minutes). Dave and Aila?s combined skills have led to an innovative and successful 1940?s style show.
Swizzleshaker?s new production THE PICTURE HOUSE is a 50 min, mid-scale street theatre show. Created in Spring 2005 with support from the Arts Council, under the direction of Gerry Flannagan.
The Picture House explores the antics of ushers Pearl and Dean and their life inside an old cinema as they attempt to perform the Trailers, Adverts, Pathe? News and The Main Feature! The show is peppered with comedy sketches, using original soundtracks from 1940?s radio adverts and Pathé newsreels, vintage dance, circus skills and a touch of magic. The show journey?s from the subtle to the spectacular – with a grand visual finale consisting of a slack-rope walk along the top of the 3-metre high curtains!
Performed in English by Dave Chameleon and Aila Baila
