360º is a complete revolution—a rotation around our own axis that returns us to the starting point. Beginning and end coincide, yet the journey unfolds as something vast, planetary, and universal. This turning becomes a symbol of human expression and a trace of the origins of folklore. It emerges from the self, but seeks to resonate beyond it, inviting others into its orbit.
In 360º, I look toward my Colombian roots to shape a piece grounded in rotation. At times, it draws from the simplicity of an initiatory children’s game; at others, from the virtuosity of traditional Colombian dances or the exuberance and display of carnival. Rotation here is also an act of visibility—of revealing oneself, of opening the body to the gaze of others, reclaiming that exposure as a space of agency rather than vulnerability.
Through a simple yet forceful gesture, 360º attempts to hold multiplicity: the playing girl, the dancing woman, and the mother who turns her head in search of an origin. These figures coexist and echo one another, sketching a subtle feminist thread that honors lived experience across time—where memory, identity, and the body continuously circle back, not as repetition, but as transformation.
360º premiered at FiraTàrrega in 2024 and has since toured extensively across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. The work has been presented at Danseu Festival, Dansa Metropolitana, GDIF – Dancing City (London, UK), Europalia Arts Festival (Belgium), United Cowboys / Natlab (The Netherlands), Kinani International Dance Platform (Mozambique), FIAV Casablanca (Morocco), Beirut Physical Lab (Lebanon), Masdanza (Spain) and SIRF – Stockton International Riverside Festival (UK), among others.
Created for public space, 360º received the 2024 APDC Award for Best Costume Design and continues its international tour.
