Taking Flight Theatre Company

Taking Flight Theatre seeks to challenge perceptions of disability through creating high quality theatre projects with professional disabled, D/deaf, sensory impaired and non- disabled performers.
Taking Flight provides employment opportunities for disabled artists, theatre makers and crew members as well as for volunteers across Wales and beyond.  We challenge negative expectations and kindle aspiration. These aims are achieved through touring high quality, exciting inclusive theatre performances to surprising outdoor spaces and theatres.
We put access at the very heart of everything we do as it forms the basis of our creative process.  Broadening access to theatre and the arts is what drives us and we innovate new methods of creative access for marginalised audiences by collaborating with technical experts, other companies and disabled communities.
We create opportunities to share best practice and inclusive thinking wherever we can by hosting events that encourage skills and knowledge sharing with other arts and non- arts organisations.
We train the next generation of disabled professional through our inclusive facilitator programme.
Our outreach programmes encourage young people of all backgrounds to work inclusively and to consider access and inclusion whilst providing positive disabled role models.
Our schools tours promote community cohesion through nurturing a greater understanding of disability and “difference” and to challenge prejudice.
Through all of our work, we seek to excite and inspire audiences, participants, volunteers and performers with creative, surprising and challenging projects.
